FAQs on our commercial boiler installation

Do you fix every type of commercial boiler?

Our engineers can repair nearly every type of commercial gas boiler. We don’t fix oil boilers, electric boilers, or solid fuel boilers.

Will your engineer fix my commercial boiler in one visit?

It depends on what the problem is, but we’ll always do our best. Our engineers carry lots of parts in their vans. If we don’t have the part, we’ll order it from our Distribution Centre and the part will usually be available the next day.

What should I do if I want to speak to someone about an existing maintenance plan or report a breakdown?

You can book a repair, or talk to us about your existing Maintenance Protection Plan agreement on:
0207-183-2727

What if I’m looking for a repair for the boiler in my home or a home I rent out?

We’ve got gas engineers ready to help you get your central heating and hot water back on. Visit our Domestic boiler repair, visit Landlord boiler repair pages for more information.

How is Pace Heating & Plumbing Heat keeping customers safe during engineer visits?

Keeping you and our engineers safe is our top priority. Our engineers will follow the latest government guidelines to prevent the spread of coronavirus when at your business premises.

To find out more, read our coronavirus update and FAQs

How much does a commercial boiler repair cost?

The price you’ll pay will vary depending on your business location and the size and type of your commercial boiler or gas appliance you have. Our one-off repair pricing starts from £125 for one hour excluding parts, or £79 fixed price repairs when you sign up to Commercial Maintenance Protection Plan.

Should I repair or replace my commercial boiler?

When deciding whether to repair or replace a boiler, you should consider how old, efficient, and reliable your current boiler is. If your boiler is over 10-15 years old, the cost of repairs may increase over time and we’d recommend you replacing your boiler.

Can I repair my commercial boiler myself?

Working with gas requires extensive knowledge, training and experience, so only gas safe registered engineers should work on gas appliances.

There are some small common fixes you can do which don’t require you to work with gas see below

What if you can't repair my commercial boiler?

If we can’t fix your problem, our engineer will let you know straight away and tell you what your options are.

Do I Repair or Replace my commercial boiler?

It is not uncommon for property owners or managers to wait until a boiler completely breaks down and are suddenly faced with no heat. To make things worse, these types of failures happen when there is real need for heat (for instance, a very cold day) and since the failure is unexpected, there are rarely emergency funds allocated to fix the problem.

The following are some warning signs that it’s time to replace an old unit:

Age: Boiler have been on the market for a long time and therefore it is not hard to predict their longevity. Condensing boilers with proper maintenance are expected to last at least 15 years or longer. Cast iron boilers, on the other hand, should be considered for replacement if they have been operating for more than 20 or 30 years. Some of these boilers can last even up to 50 years or longer, but even with decent annual maintenance, their efficiencies are much lower than today’s cast iron boilers. Often times, the energy savings from a new boiler replacement alone practically pays for the cost itself within a year or two.

Energy expenditures: Be mindful of increases in energy expenses. If energy bills are slowly rising, it may be due not only to the age of the boiler but also to increasing costs of the boiler maintenance. If a boiler requires constant servicing, the system has likely become less efficient. One should consider upgrading to a more reliable, durable unit Additionally, a noisy unit may also be a sign that it’s time for an upgrade.

Increased frequency of failures: This is a clear indicator that the boiler is due for either a major overhaul or replacement.

Leaks: A boiler that leaks or requires additional make-up water could be nearing the end of its lifecycle. By replacing the existing unit, the building manager or owner can avoid costly floods and critical boiler or property damage.

Comfort: If you notice that some rooms in a building are too hot or too cold or have varying temperatures throughout the day, it’s possible that the unit and its controls are no longer effective or the facility may benefit from more efficient controls.

Even if a boiler isn’t immediately failing, upgrading to a new system can offer significant benefits. By planning the change, rather than facing an emergency in the throes of winter, building owners and managers can realize energy savings, a more comfortable facility, tenant retention, improved heating reliability and increased property value.

Warm Air Heating

Commercial warm air heaters UK e1628544750847

Where space is at a premium unit heaters come into their own. Suspended from the roof or off brackets from the wall, unit heaters take up little useful space. Unit heaters are always equipped with horizontal louvres to help push the warm air to ground level. Vertical louvres by giving side to side movement help spread the warm air throughout the building.

Long before the phrase “Carbon Footprint” was coined, Pace Heating & Plumbing was committed to energy efficiency.  The products we specify have always more than met the efficiency standards applicable at the time and we were quick to realise the benefits that our association with the Carbon Trust would bring to our customers.

Radiant heating products & services:

If the majority of your building does not need heating then radiant heating could be the answer for you. If you need to heat a specific area & a radiant heater can be positioned so that it can effectively cover this area radiant heating is the correct solution. The heat from a radiant heater is carried by infra red waves just like light energy. So long as an object is not obscured by another it will benefit from that radiant heat. It is therefore ideal for use where for example there is an area within a building warehousing products that are not temperature sensitive.

If you have premises where large amounts of unbalanced extract is required (for example in a spray area) radiant heating comes into is own. As the heater is heating objects not the atmosphere the fact that air is being drawn out of the area does not affect the heater’s ability to warm the people or objects in the area. Another ideal situation would be where the roller shutter doors are constantly open – for example in plant or other workshops.

Indirect Fired

Pace Heating & Plumbing can include any Indirect Fired Water Heater into your service agreement, making sure that the Valves, Timers, Coil, Emmersion, Pipework are all working properly and are in sound and safe order.

A thermal storage water cylinder reverses the indirect water-heating principle. Water that passes through the central heating system and boiler also passes through the cylinder.

The hot water is stored in the cylinder and can be heated to a maximum of 90°C thereby increasing the amount of heat energy available for use, while the use of CFC Free Foam Insulation retains the heat within the stored water.
